January 4th, 2016 – Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope that all of you had a wonderful holiday and restful winter break. The children all seem to be content in their classrooms and routine as well as being with their peers again.
January is going to be a busy month.
Over the holiday break, the new serenity garden was completed. It is a lovely peaceful outdoor learning environment next to the elementary garden area. It hosts a wishing well made from pieces of the chimney of our original school house, keeping a little bit of our history on site. It also has beautiful wooden benches for lessons and has serene landscaping. The Walk a Thon proceeds went towards this special project that will be enjoyed by all of our students. Thank you all for making this possible by your participation in this years WAT.
With our new school logo making its debut this school year, we are in the process of preparing our new spirit wear. The new t-shirt will be ready for the Spring Fling on May 1 and for field trips. Beginning on January 6th, we will be having a clearance sale of the inventory with the retired logo. The t-shirts will be $5.00 and the sweatshirts $10.00. Our goal is to have all inventory sold by the end of the month. Every Friday is spirit day at CMS. Any shirt that represents the school can be worn, so school shirts that have our retired logo and Walk a Thon shirts are always welcomed and do not go to waste. If you are interested in purchasing a clearance shirt please contact Shannon Sullivan Order forms for the new shirt will be available in March.
On January 12th, “Harvest for the Homeless” will be launched. CMS will be helping children in need in the local community. You will be receiving more detailed information from the PTC very soon. We are excited to be a part of this outreach program and have our students be active participants.
We invite you to attend our Prospective Kindergarten and Elementary Night on Tuesday, January 12th from 6:00-7:30. The evening will give an overview of the Kindergarten and Elementary curriculum. It will highlight many Montessori materials and units of study that is not found in traditional education. We look forward to seeing you there.
Here is to a wonderful 2016!
