Arrivals/Dismissals
Early Childhood Students
In the morning all early childhood students will be welcomed at their cars by a teacher and escorted to their classrooms by an elementary greeter. If you have enrollment paperwork for Mr. Rose he will be at the exit of the driveway to receive it and will contact you later that day if needed. With safety being our priority, we need your assistance by remembering to make a right hand turn out of the driveway on to Monte Vista road.
For full day early childhood dismissals, please stay in your car and a teacher will bring your student to you. Should the parking lot be full at this time, Mr. Rose will signal to you to pull up to the curb and we will bring your student to you.
If your child is a half day student, the students will be escorted at 12:20 to the front of the school and will be escorted to your car by a staff member.
Arrivals/Dismissals
Elementary Students
Please pull your car all the way up the unloading/loading zone where your student will be accompanied at the crosswalk by an elementary faculty member. Please remember that this is a two minute zone and to turn around in the cul de sac on Monte Vista Road.
At 3:00 dismissals please make two lanes in the parking lot, use the curbside parking if the lot is full and pull all the way forward. A staff member will be in the crosswalk and directing traffic. Two teachers will be taking students across to the curb and will release students to parents there and two teachers will put students in the cars that are in the parking lot. The children will be supervised by a staff member in the gated bench area.
The Montessori Journey-Friday, September 6, 6:00-8:00 PM, Child Care available
The Journey has been designed so that participants can discover answers to their questions about the Montessori curriculum and principles. It has been modeled on Dr. Maria Montessori’s Three Period Lesson where first a concept is presented, then it is internalized through practice, and finally it is synthesized into full understanding and abstraction. This is for adults only and is a required event for all new parents. Child care is offered. Please let Jose know if you will be attending and if you will need child care by emailing him at joseb@countrymontessori.org
First PTC Event of the 2019-20 School Year

This is an excellent way to meet fellow parents, classroom teachers and staff. Light refreshments and beverages will be served. Child Care will not be available, this is an adult event only. We hope to see you all there and there will be more information coming out soon.

Please let Jose know if you want any changes made to your parent directory preferences. If Jose does not receive a response from your family he will assume that all above mentioned information is clear to include in the Parents Web directory.
We appreciate you taking the time to inform us of your family preferences, so that we can adjust your settings accordingly to ensure that our lines of communication are open.

Start School Smart and How to Say Goodbye
Start School Smart The school year is about to begin and you want to help your child get off to a great start! Following are some ways to get (and stay) involved and to help your child be successful
•Set up routines (such as helping your child lay out clothes the night before, packing lunch…) Routines will help your child adjust quickly to school.
•Be supportive: Attend school functions such as open houses or evenings to learn about the Montessori Method. Your attendance and support show your child with actions, not just words, that you value their education.
•Communicate: Plan a method of communication with the school staff. How will you communicate with your child’s teacher? Will you see them regularly and have the opportunity for face to face visits? Or will you be communicating via notes or emails? Communication needs to be open and clear between parent and staff for your child to have a successful school experience.
•Follow through: of work is sent home, make sure it gets done. If the staff asks you to send a backpack to school for student work, do your best to send a backpack daily.
The staff at your child’s school wants to make this year the best ever for your child.
How to Say Goodbye
Before leaving your child for the first day/week of school, discuss concerns or issues with the teacher ahead of time. Attend an open house event or arrange to meet the teacher. Tour the school before the school year starts. This helps your child feel more comfortable in the setting.
Discuss any special concerns with the teacher. Some schools allow parents to stay for a period of time as the child adjusts to the new environment. For other schools or parents, that is not feasible.
Before the first day, talk to your child about what is going to happen. Tell them you will take them to school where they will put away their belongings and then you will say good-bye. If your child is upset the first few days let your child know you will also miss them, reassure them that they will have a great day, and tell them you will see them in a little bit. Give your child one last hug or kiss goodbye and then leave.
Although your child may be upset, most children quiet down within a few minutes of your departure. The staff will likely comfort your child and then help distract them by showing them a lesson or encouraging them to choose work.
Don’t be surprised if the crying lasts for several days or restarts on Mondays. This is normal and typical of children. Keep the dialogue open between you and the staff so you can tell them anything that you think would make the transition easier.
The Montessori staff is there to assist you and your child.
Cheers,
The CMS Family
